Went to Budapest last week and saw one of the sights I only knew about after flicking through a tourism book and seeing it in a tiny picture...

A statue of Hermes! Okay, it also has a water fountain at the bottom, but I wasn't about to complain. It also actually had "Hermes" at the base, rather than Mercury, which I was chuffed about...

So I just thought it'd be nice to share the pictures.

I love how it looks like he's got veins on this picture... which may be weird, I didn't even notice till I downloaded them.

He's placed on the main commerical street of their city.

Hope this doesn't count as spam...

They're really into their neo-classical over there but it was mainly Athene that kept popping up. I couldn't take a photo of the best statue of her though ;_;

She turned up in Prague as well weirdly enough.

In Budapest did get my photo with the nice but not as impressive statue though:

Complete with cheesy slogan. Hey, if it's good enough for Mary...

iHermes (Greek God)

A water fountain underneath is interesting:) It does look like He has veins. He's placed in a good spot too!

It's so hot in that country they have them everywhere, but it's the only one with a Greek god on top ^_^

No problem ^_^

Like I said, I saw him in the book and knew that if I didn't see anything else I didn't care.
